Children: I have two grown boys. The oldest, Paul, works for Yahoo in the Data Solutions department, studying the traffic patterns of people using the Yahoo! website. In Paul’s spare time, he has been taking a search & rescue course and has become a volunteer member of the Santa Clara County (CA) Sheriff Search & Rescue team.
The youngest, Scott, is a Park Ranger / Law Enforcement Officer at Joshua Tree National Park (near Palm Springs, CA). Scott’s job is always interesting and fully of unexpected experiences when dealing with the park visitors. Scott is also the park's Rock Climbing Ranger and is in charge of their search and rescue efforts, In his spare time he flys high above the deserts of S. California.
In September I had the privilage of hiking a 32 miles section of the 165 miles Tahoe Rim Trail with my two boys. Click on the image below for photos and description of our backpack trip. (During the summer I hiked an additional 28 miles of the TRT, from Rose Knob to Spooner Summit, on three separate days.)

(As a side note, I feel so lucky to live in Tahoe. Those of us who live in the Tahoe Basin have such a wonderful place to live, hike and have available many other forms of both summer and winter recreation. This is one of the reasons I feel so strong about Keeping Tahoe both BLUE and GREEN and trying our utmost to make Tahoe FIRE SAFE.)
Last summer (2003), I went hiking with both Paul and Scott in Kings Canyon National Park. Click on the image below for photos from that back packing trip.
